Functional diversity in Spain. Towards the equal inclusion of persons with disabilities

Abstract
This text brings together some of the conclusions of the study Disabilities and social inclusion, edited in 2012 by La Caixa Foundation, which in its turn in based on the last survey on Disability, Personal Autonomy and Frailty conducted by the Spanish Statistical Office (INE) in 2008. In particular, it focuses on some of the aspects of major interest for understanding the ways of social inclusion and labor insertion of the persons with functional diversity, a group of 3.8 million people, of which 1.5 million people are in their working age. Some analyses and proposals to address the problems of chronification and marginalization of this large sector of the population are highlighted from a socio-preventative approach.
